Fred is one of my past pups, his older dog sister is declining faster than the owner thought, and she felt strongly that the original dog should have space and time. Fred is a big boy and blind. While respectful, he is still a derpy puppy. His sister was getting bumped which wasn't helping her failing back end. You'll see in his photo's below that he really stretches his front legs when walking... they act like his white cane.
Playing with Spoo
Fred is an awkward player, as you can imagine. He blusters in, misses his target and is in his gangly teenage phase, which doesn't help anything! Spoo learned to communicate with him verbally when he was here the first time, she will need a few days to remember to get back to that. Fred as a second dog could be hard for your existing dog until communication gets worked out. So much of how dogs talk is via body language, which Fred cannot read
He's good on his feet, he's been blind from the very beginning, so this is how he's always known to interact with the world. That stretching front paw, detects early the board, and then stretches again once he's on it to see how wide it is. then back to the normal pace. Smart, adaptable boy!
